I just got back from voting in the primary. It was interesting. I live in a heavily GOP area. I got there, showed ID and went to get a D ballot. While I was waiting for the worker to put my name down, I looked at the list of names for D or R ballots. There were probably 20-30 names down for a D ballot and there were NO names down for an R ballot.
I've tried to figure out what this means. I guess it could mean several things. First off, there aren't many D's in this area. Secondly, Bush is running unopposed. Thirdly, the flag vote is nonbinding so there is really no motivation to come out for this issue.
I was surprised, however, that there were no R voters due to the fact that Bush is supposedly "wildly popular" in my neck of the woods. I would have thought that there would have been a large influx of GOP voters to "show their love of Dubya."
BTW, even the poll workers were joking that maybe they would hand out a GOP ballot by the end of the day.
